WE BEGAN BY DOING.
CCPF began with parents and volunteers creating opportunities for people to experience Chinese culture together.
Through food, storytelling, school activities and documentation, we learned that culture becomes meaningful when people can enter it and contribute to it.

OUR MANDATE
CCPF develops, delivers and documents participatory Chinese cultural experiences for schools and community organizations.
OUR MISSION
To make Chinese culture accessible through firsthand experience while creating meaningful opportunities for families and younger participants to contribute, reflect and preserve what they learn.
OUR EMERGING DIRECTION
To create more room for younger participants to move from experiencing culture to documenting, interpreting and creating cultural projects for others.
THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP THE WORK MOVING
CCPF is guided by a volunteer board and carried forward by parents, cultural contributors and community-minded professionals.

STORIES WORTH CARRYING
A STORY CHILDREN CAN ENTER
At Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School and in a preschool classroom, storytelling and hands-on activities made Chinese New Year accessible to different ages.
CULTURE MADE TOGETHER—AND SHARED
Families prepared traditional Chinese food and, through an established partner, shared selected projects with people in the Downtown Eastside.
THE WORK BEHIND EVERY DELIVERY
CCPF documented the coordination and relationships behind community food distribution. The film placed attention on the people doing the work—not on CCPF.
PARTICIPATION OVER PERFORMANCE
We believe:
• Culture needs context.
• Participation matters more than spectacle.
• Service should respect community knowledge.
• Documentation requires consent and dignity.
• Responsibility should precede recognition.
• Every project should strengthen the next.
STILL LEARNING. STILL BUILDING.
We are refining a form of cultural work that can be repeated responsibly and carried by more people over time.
